Rachel Littlewood
Nothing is better than heading out with the horses for a long hack (often including a wine stop!) and enjoying this little piece of heaven with friends and liveries, it really makes Pickering Grange a very special home. . . .
When Rachel is not building barns, making haylage or meeting with liveries, she loves to get out competing at both dressage and eventing with her horses.
Sally-Ann Wright
Organisation is key to well-run shows and clinics, and we are lucky to have Sally-Ann helping with all the times, planning & logistics for our dressage events and competitions. Sally-Ann is a super help with all queries & bookings. Peter Rabbit her horse is also a cheeky & loveable resident on the livery yard.
Jon Edwards
Jon is a keen equestrian & our resident British Show Jumping /Eventing judge. While you will mostly see him as a busy PGE official, Jon also makes sure all our show jumps are in a tip top condition & can often be found in the paint room. On our dressage events Jon will make sure that all our scoring is both efficient & correct brining a great eye for detail and his passion for PGE.
Eloise Straw
Our British Show Jumping Shows have grown from strength to strength, all thanks to Eloise who handles all the planning and is at every show as part of our friendly & helpful arena party. All competitors have a great experience & any queries are quickly resolved thanks to her, you guys having a great time is at the heart of what we do . . . . .
The Dogs
Jessie and Jake are the obligatory farm black labs and the perfect well-mannered show dogs.
The Cats
No farm is complete without some mouse-catching cats and the yard just wouldn’t be the same without them. Usually found with Rachel near the feed room!
Our Visiting Instructors
Kate Cowell
Kate Cowell (nee Attlee) is a professional International Dressage rider based in Malvern, Worcestershire. A regular competitor on the British and international Dressage scene, Kate produces and competes at Young Horse classes up to Grand Prix.
Kate represented Great Britain on numerous occasions as a Junior/Young Rider at the European Dressage Championships, winning Team Bronze in 2000 riding Westwell Jem. Moving out of young riders Kate continued her success and represented Great Britain at Small Tour and Big Tour, winning several Internationals. Kate has worked hard to produce strength in depth to her string and now has an extremely strong power house of horses behind her and is in a position to aim towards International Grand Prix and a British Team place.
Kate is a highly motivated individual who aims to train and compete to the highest level possible and is dedicated to passing her knowledge to other aspiring riders, professionals and amateurs alike. She holds the UKCC level 3.
Nick Creaton
Nick is an established Equestrian Coach & Trainer, Consultant and Saddle Designer.
His coaching is based on the principles of Learning Theory in Equitation which is based on Equine Ethology and Cognition.
Nick has competed in all disciplines himself and has trained numerous horse and rider combinations including pupils up to advanced Three Day Eventing.
Nick continues to train pupils, both competitive and non-competitive as well career students training for BHS qualifications.
Steph Croxford
Steph is an International Grand Prix dressage rider with over 15 years experience at that level. She has produced two horses from youngsters to International Grand Prix and has competed all over Europe.
Steph has been part of several Nation Cup Teams and was on course to compete at the Beijing Olympics. She has competed at the National Championships from 2003 until 2019 and she currently has another young Grand Prix horse, who has only just started the International journey with her.
Steph is happy to teach riders and horses at all levels and abilities… individual flat lessons to suit all in our fantastic 20×60 indoor arena.
Lisa Dixon
Lisa Dixon specialises in groundwork and focusing on breaking training down into small steps to build confidence for both horse and human. She runs Freelance Equine Trick Training and Horsemanship who hold regular clinics for groundwork, trick training, young horse and obstacle sessions. She is also author of the book ‘Harmony In-hand’, a guide to trick training horses. In her spare time, she studies classical dressage and mounted combat at Historic Equitation, as well as also being part of ‘The Horse of Spain’ theatre show.
Sam Hobbs
Sam is a 4* event rider and experienced producer of young horses. Having spent 7 seasons as stable jockey for the Preci Spark event team, where she produced 6 horses to Advanced, she now runs her own event yard.
Sam is a British Eventing accredited coach and thoroughly enjoys coaching riders from grassroots to 3*.
Emma Jablonski
Emma offers both dressage training and soft tissue therapy here at Pickering Grange. Choose from
- Dressage Training
- Equine Bodyworker (soft tissue therapy) – Head to tail treatment to manage areas of soreness/tight muscles that may be limiting performance or causing behavioural problems
- or both (book your lesson first if having both)
Emma is a UKCC L3 British Dressage Accredited Coach & Advanced Equine Bodyworker – fully insured and Safeguarding checked. She has trained horses from unbroken to Grand Prix and competes throughout the levels from Novice to Inter II. Emma teaches all ages and abilities. She will focus on the detail and has a wealth of knowledge which combines horse and rider bio-mechanics and the technical skills required to help you and your horse perform at your best and progress through the levels. Her focus is on correct training methods which gradually build up the strength and ability required to perform the advanced movements happily, easily and to a high standard.
Colette Johnson
Colette teaches beginners through to 100 eventing including riders with young horses.
She enjoys helping nervous riders by building confidence at the horse and riders pace and offers the ideal sessions to help the rider and horses partnership grow.
Colette has shadowed Laurence Hunt international 5* Eventer in clinics for the past 10 years, and continues to, gaining invaluable experience
She ran a large livery yard for 9 years but now teaches freelance and at Pickering Grange Equestrian holding regular clinics here.
Starting eventing late in life at the age of 47 Colette has had first hand experience of dealing with nerves herself but she has successfully competed her mare Luci up to British Eventing 100 and British Showjumping Discovery qualifying in her first 4 BS classes British novice.Fully insured and strives to help people enjoy their horses whist learning.
Natasha Pirie Morrell
Natasha is an encouraging instructor and happy to teach all levels. Clinic can be Jumping, Poles, Flat or a combination of all, whatever you are happy with.
I currently have 3 horses that I have bred /produced from 3 year olds. I’m a BHS & UKCC (with British Show Jumping) qualified coach and currently train with international trainers John Ledingham & Matt Lanni. I’ve been teaching for 25 years and I’m experienced in all levels from beginner to competition riders competing BS, BE & BD. I represented Great Britain at student level and competed & produced many horses from backing to Grade A Show Jumping & wins / placings from British Novice to 1.30m & previously Evented to BE Intermediate and Dressage to Elementary.
Jonquil Sargent
Jonquil Sargent is a qualified British Showjumping coach who has recently relocated from Berkshire where she was the BS Rep for the County and ran both Berkshire and Oxfordshire Senior Teams. Every year she has been at the helm they have reached the National Final at Stonleigh Park. This year (2021) Oxfordshire won the top spot out of the 52 UK Counties!
Since being back in Leicestershire Jonquil has coached at the Atherstone Pony Club Camp and several of her new students have qualified and competed at the BS National Championships and Scope Festival this Summer after having only registered BS a short while ago.
Adults and children alike; If you are looking for a fun, enthusiastic coach who will support your goals and build your and your horses confidence then she’s the one for you.
Jonquil trains with International Showjumper Guy Goosen and produces her own unbroken youngsters with whom she has jumped up to 1m40 in the ring. She has several junior BS ponies on the circuit, competes up to Advanced Medium BD and occasionally makes an appearance at side-saddle competitions.
Sessions have no minimum height and go up to 1.10m.
